The 9/11 Patriot
Photographer Shares Stories of Pentagon Reconstruction through
Images
ANNANDALE, Va. – Susan Scott Teachey
offers a touching tribute to the tragedy turned to patriotism and
heroism after the Sept. 11 attacks in her new compilation of photographs,
The 9/11 Patriot: Viewpoint of an Average American Girl (now available
through AuthorHouse).
Chronicling the reconstruction of the Pentagon during the year
after the attacks, this stunning collection of 209 full color photos
represents the efforts of real-life heroes in the months following
the tragedy. It also represents the events through the lens – and
the eyes – of an everyday American citizen. Teachey shares
candid, genuine portraits of the reconstruction efforts through
these photos.
Teachey says this book will act as a reminder to future generations
who will have no recollection of the heartache endured by the nation
on that infamous day. “This book can be passed from generation
to generation to keep the memory of those lost on September 11,
2001 forever, particularly because of the photography,” she
says. “These photographs are images that should be remembered
and that can never be retaken. These expressions of patriotism
are gone and will never be erected again. Let’s never forget.”
She also hopes the images will renew the national sense of unity
that spread through the country following the attacks. “Once
you read this book, you will connect with the renewed, or first-realized,
feeling of patriotism for our country,” she says.
In an effort to contribute to the legacy of the heroes and victims
of Sept. 11, Teachey plans to donate a portion of proceeds from
the sale of this book to the Americas 911 Foundation, a scholarship
fund; Rolling Thunder®, an organization dedicated to raising
POW/MIA awareness and helping American veterans from all wars,
past, present and future; and other organizations supporting troops
and their families.
Born in Richmond, Va., Teachey’s family history in the United
States dates back to 1709 in the town of Teachey, N.C. A member
of her ancestry has fought in every American war. She is an avid
philanthropist, and donates her time and funds to a number of causes
dedicated to Pentagon victims and their families, children, soldiers
and veterans. She continues to live in Virginia where she works
as a graphic designer and owns a small studio. The 9/11 Patriot
is her first book.
